Mike Robbins is a professional tourism consultant with over 45 years of experience, having worked throughout Canada, as well as in the US, New Zealand/Australia, Southeast Asia, northern Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and the Caribbean. Coming from an environmental planning/ resource management educational background Michael has focussed his career on more responsible forms of tourism.
Mike retired as Chairman of the Board of Directors with CREST (The Center for Responsible Travel) based in Washington DC in December 2021. Mike currently holds the following positions:
- Board member with the Escarpment Corridor Alliance
- Board member and Tourism Team Lead with the Aspiring Georgian Bay Geopark (seeking UNESCO designation)
- TAPAS Group member (IUCN Tourism and Protected Areas Specialist Group)
- Member of the Trebek Council (affiliated with the Royal Canadian Geographic Society and National Geographic)
- Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographic Society
- Fellow International Member of the Explorers Club
Through MakeWay (Formerly Tides Canada) Mike has a donor directed fund focussed on Indigenous cultural and ecotourism initiatives in northern Canada.
